TOYKIO x NRW-Forum DIY Contest

The TOYKIO x NRW-Forum DIY contest just begun and we got plenty of entries until now.

Create your own design, using any paint or picture-proccessing software you own or operate and post your creation until 29th of February, 12.00 pm on our Facebook Page. A jury will then determine the Winner who will get one of three 8 Inch-Munnys (20 cm) or one of three free half-year subscriptions from the german PAGE mag.

Pop-Up Store Opening – Review & Gallery

The TOYKIO x NRW-FORUM Pop-Up Store Opening at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf on last Friday was quite successful. Many People came by and nearly every drink was sold out in the end. Though a few guys on Facebook wrote on our wall that they were disappointed about the opening, we honestly think that most of the attending people really enjoyed the show…. But why do you not judge for yourselves? Here are the Pictures:

TOYKIO BREAKING NEWS – TOYKIO x NRW FORUM – 02 / 2012

The first Pop-Up store “TOYKIO x NRW Forum” will be opened from January 27th, 2012 until February 26th showing a mix of Designer Toys, photography and street art.

The focus in the product range is on the Munnyworld series by Kidrobot. The DIY (do it yourself) vinyl figures – consisting of the characters Munny, Bub, Trikky, Raffy and Rooz – are displayed and can be (as the name suggests) painted, drawn or simply left in their original state. Any kind of creativity is welcome.

And following the Munnyworld motto “you can do anything you want” on the opening day, 27 January a live customizing workshop of DIY toys takes place in cooperation with 7 selected national artists such as Flying Förtress, Max Fiedler and the Majo Bros.

Multiple World Champion DJ Rafik, will also show his skills by giving musical support during the event. “So, be inspired and join US!”

Opening: 27th January 2012, Entry: FREE. Starting at 7:30pm.

Location: NRW Forum, Ehrenhof 2, 40479 Düsseldorf.

Exhibition takes place from 27th January until 26th February 2012
Open: Tuesday – Sunday from 11am – 8pm // Fridays 11am – 12pm

Nike Sportswear x Toykio NSW Destroyer

We are really proud to present our collaboration project with NIKE Sportswear.
After last winters kick off by the crews of LookyLooky, Keinemusik & Beastin, it is now the turn of Düsseldorf’s TOYKIO gang to create their personal edition of the NSW Destroyer. The Destroyer is Nikes interpretation of the legendary US varsity jacket. Wearing it means representing and showing where you come from – regardless if it’s a team, a crew, a label or an artist collective. Destroyers embody stories, team spirit and style, warm like a pea coat, as solid as a bomber jacket.

The inspiration for the customized Destroyer was found in works of associated artists and designers that make up the face and character of Toykio and Selim Varols collection. Together with an homage to the Number 7 and their local football team Fortuna Düsseldorf, it is graced with patches by German artists Stefan Strumbel & Flying Förtress. Toykio member, DRMTM founder & multitalent Huy Dieu played a significant role in the design process.

The Toykio Destroyer will be handed out to a selected number of friends and personal heroes of the collective – as of November 15 a blank version of the Nike Destroyer, in different styles and colors, will be available in selected stores throughout Germany and Austria: HHV Berlin, NIGH Cologne, AMEN Munich , ASPHALTGOLD Darmstadt , FLASHGIB Stuttgart, CREAM Hamburg and PAAR in Vienna. A limited number of exclusive Toykio Destroyer posters will also be ready for pick up.

We are blessed at Toykio to work with a very, very, very nice Espresso Machine a.k.a Synesso Cyncra. Its accurate, reliable & shiny ! Its a mix of brushed and polished Steel. So wandering through the shop i realised that a few other coffee goodies are shiny as well. We sell the espresso cup set from Illy’s Artist Series “Anish Kapoor” (Set for 79.90.-). They are white onthe outside and polished chrome on the inside. Its so much more than a beautiful set of espresso cups. There is also a very elegant Tamper with Station from LaPotenza called “Chief” in our store available (495.-). They are limtied to 20 Worldwide.
